TRANSLUSION

TRANSLUSION is a site specific light-space.

With our intervention of the polygonal mirror room in the Mosque of Yakovali Hassan we wish to invite the visitors on a journey of ecstatic visual experiences. Using animated LED lights our aim is -just like the whirling dervishes with their meditative and dizzying dance- to deceive and confront sanity, thus reinterpreting the sacred nature of this unique location. The infinitely reflecting space acts as a portal allowing reality and its conceivable counterpart to meet. It is a volume where -through hypnotic flashes of extended reality- one becomes fully submerged in an intermediate state of mind. The boundaries are washed away once our senses stop being reliable and the spectacle of floating fills the newly emerged reality-void.
