Due to the fact that it’s become the most popular event of Zsolnay Festvial of Light, Zsolnay Heritage Management Nonprofit Ltd. announced yet another edition of the international, prized Zsolnay Light Art Mapping Competition for 2020 – for the fifth time in a row – to be composed on the Pécs Cathedral. The festival, celebrating its jubilee, will present a wide range of local and international light art programs and provide a shared space for a variety of artists working in different fields.

Mappings will be displayed for three nights from July 03-05, 2020 on the façade of Pécs Cathedral as the main attraction of Zsolnay Festival of Light. As in previous years, organizing partner and official host of the 2020 competition will be the internationally renowned Hungarian visual arts studio, Glowing Bulbs, who are also celebrating their 20 th birthday this year. As an addition to the competition program, a selection of the most spectacular mappings from previous editions of the festival will be showcased, including Glowing Bulbs’ epic, ‘The Book of Jonah’, composed on the Cathedral’s façade.

The mapping surface remains the same, covering the Cathedral’s Southern façade, towers, roof and rear towers.

The Jury Panel still consists of a five-member international professional committee, but we made two essential changes to the course of the competition:

The competition still has only one category. Besides the Jury’s Grand Prize, an Audience Prize will also be awarded - the prize for the audience’s favourite mapping will be granted by our sponsors.

The Zsolnay Light Art Mapping Competition is free for all visitors, and is recommended for all ages.
